Speed up your QuickBooks tasks even more with keyboard shortcuts

A list of keyboard combinations that takes your QuickBooks experience to the next level.

To close all open QuickBooks Windows quickly, click on Window on the menu bar, and then Close All.

  • The History button shows you all the transactions related to the one you are currently viewing.
  • For example, view any invoice that you know is paid, then click on the History button.
  • Then you'll see the payment details on your screen instantly.
  • T = Today's date
  • M = First day of the month you are working in
  • H = Last day of the month you are working in
  • Y = First day of the year
  • R = Last day of the year
  • + = Move the date forward by one day
  • - = Move the date backward by one day

CTRL+A brings up the Chart of Accounts right away.

ALT+F4 closes QuickBooks software.

When working in a register, you can use the = key to bring up the calculator when adding or subtracting from an account.

CTRL+T will bring up your Memorized Transaction list immediately.

  • Tab = Move between fields
  • Ctrl-Left Arrow or Ctrl-Right Arrow = Navigate from word to word within a field
  • End = Jump to the end of a field
  • Home = Jump to the beginning
  • Ctrl-W = Display the Write Checks window
  • Ctrl-I = Display the Invoice window
  • Ctrl-N = Create a new transaction
  • Ctrl-P = Print
  • Ctrl-Q = Create a QuickReport on a selected transaction or list item
  • Ctrl-J = Display the Customer Center
  • Esc repeatedly = Clear the decks
  • Press Ctrl-R = Display the Use Register window, and then press Alt-Down Arrow to display the full list (simply pressing the Down Arrow will jump to the OK button
  • Ctrl-PgUp = Move to the first previous month in the register
  • Ctrl-PgDn = Move to the next month in the register
  • Press Ctrl-O = Copy an entire transaction within a register
  • Ctrl-V = Paste a duplicate of the copy
  • Ctrl-E = Edit a transaction in the register
  • Ctrl-D = Delete transactions
  • Ctrl-G for certain transfer transactions = View the register of the corresponding account
  • Ctrl-H on certain transactions = View their transaction history
  • Ctrl-Y = Display a transaction journal
  • Ctrl-A = Chart of Accounts
  • Ctrl-T = Memorized Transaction List
  • Ctrl-PgUp and Ctrl-PgDn = Navigate to the top or bottom of a list
  • Ctrl-E = Edit a record within a list
  • Ctrl-P = Print the entire list
  • Ctrl-D = Delete a list item
  • + or - = Move incremental dates up or down
  • W = Move back one week
  • K = Move forward one week
  • M = Move back one month
  • H = Move forward one month
  • Y = Move back one year
  • R = Move forward one year
  • Alt-Down Arrow = Display the calendar
  • [ or ] = Move to the same date in the previous or next week
  • ; or ‘ = Move to the same date in the previous or next month
  • T = Return to today’s date
  • Ctrl key while you open QuickBooks = Will not open to last company that you accessed
  • Alt key while you open QuickBooks = Start with a clean desktop
  • F2 = Display an array of technical data about your QuickBooks company
