Kathy Quinn, CPA

Director

Kathy graduated magna cum laude in 1985 from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas with a BBA in accounting. She joined Candy & Schonwald in January 1988, and became a partner in 2010. Kathy’s areas of expertise include estate and trust planning, estate administration, retirement planning, general tax compliance, and business consulting.

Director

Terry graduated in 1985 from the University of Texas at Austin, earning BBA degrees in accounting and finance. He joined Candy & Schonwald in July 1991, and became a partner in 2010. Terry’s areas of expertise include income forecasting, investment analysis, management advisory services, and business valuations.

Kiah Woodard, EA

Tax Manager

Kiah graduated in 1998 from Stephen F. Austin University, earning a BBA in accounting and she joined Candy & Schonwald. She became an enrolled agent licensed by the U.S. Treasury Department in 2019. Kiah’s areas of expertise include trust and estate tax returns, payroll tax returns and compliance, financial statement compilations, and QuickBooks operations.

Accounting Manager

Adela graduated in 2011, with a BBA in general business from The University of North Texas. She joined the firm in 2012, and has expertise in the areas of payroll tax preparation, sales tax preparation, financial statement compilation, and QuickBooks consulting.

Founding Partners

Candy & Schonwald was founded in 1976 when Jerry Candy and Avie Schonwald joined forces to create a full-service Dallas CPA firm. Jerry began his public accounting career with Lybrand, Ross Brothers & Montgomery before he left to start his own firm. Avie started his professional career at Laventhol & Horwath. Together they created a Dallas CPA firm that endures to this day. Although Jerry and Avie are semi-retired, they maintain offices at Candy & Schonwald and continue to provide guidance.

Jerry graduated in 1967 from Southern Methodist University with a BBA in accounting. His areas of expertise include estate planning, and all areas of federal taxation.
